Over 150 years old, these are original, military issue percussion P-1853 model rifles of the type used throughout the British Empire.  These were imported in great quantities, mostly by the Confederacy, into America during the U.S. Civil War.

Each comes from Authentic Government Storage Depots in Nepal where they have been stored since they were made obsolete and withdrawn from Service during the reign of Queen Victoria. These have not been touched since. So rather than attempt the time consuming cleaning and restoration of 150+ years storage, we are offering these as is for the historical collector and enthusiast to enjoy in their “just discovered" condition.

All show extensive use but each appears, by and large, to be complete. They may, or may not function, once the thick layer of congealed dirt, grime, grease and rust are removed, and may suffer from cracks and breaks which is to be expected after more than a century of neglect. Again only offered in AS IS condition; complete with caked on debris from battle and storage. There are NO Guarantees other than that each gun is completely genuine and very old. These relics should be likened to an archaeological dig, so no unreasonable demands or gripes please. Now offered at a bargain price for the enthusiast to enjoy as is or to spend the time and TLC to carefully restore; each weapon is REAL, ANTIQUE and is offered AS FOUND. Picture is a typical example, each weapon will vary of course. There is a $10.00 additional shipping & handling charge with item, cannot be shipped USPS.

Each gun will feature:
The action, lever, trigger, stock (which may show signs of wear like cracks, old repairs, wood rot, etc), barrel, 2 steel barrel bands, cleaning rod and butt plate.

Some guns may have additional pieces (sorry no choice) like minor parts & screws.

Condition:
Usually show rust & pitting and be covered in dirt as originally stored.  Otherwise they may not operate because of seizing or could be otherwise incomplete.  Plus there may be additional cracks, missing chunks, old repairs.

Note: These guns were manufactured before 1898 and are therefore legally considered antiques. It is totally legal to own these without a U.S. Federal Firearms License (FFL) and they can be shipped to most countries around the world.

Just received my P1853. Although rough, I have certainly restored worse. Some chips gone from around breech and upper lock but easily reparable. I'm sure to enjoy this project which I believe will turn out quite serviceable and attrqactive. Thanks ACC.

Very pleased with the P1853, which arrived in pretty good condition, with all of its parts. The wood was in pretty good shape - no major rot or cracks, and only minor termite damage in the butt. The lock was completely functional, and looks and works great after some very minor cleaning. The barrel has some pitting below the wood line, but the bore is shiny, with visible lans and grooves. My only disappointment came from the overall lack of grime - I looked forward to tackling the fabled "yakmoline," but there was hardly any. Delivery was fast, and AC's customer service was great (I was missing the cleaning rod, but one phone call and two days later it was on my porch). Thanks for a great project, and a great piece of history!

Good news & Bad news. The gun was already cleaned, no worm holes in stock, barrel excellent, had 3 barrel bands; the lower perfectly cleaned but missing sectional area due to earlier rust/crosion; middle band was fair, needed cleaning; upper band, totally encrusted. It ws missing only one escutheon for the rear lock plate screw. When I removed the barrel & lock plate, the rifle just "fell apart" in two, it was fractured at the rear lock plate screw, with a jaged/irregular break about 6" long. Lucky the rifle was cleaned. I used Loctite 5-min 2 part epoxy (Water & solvent resistant)to make the repair, but boy you better be quick in fitting & matching the 2 parts. Needless to say it turned out OK, but you can see the repair. Finished my 3rd coat or oil for the stock, overall very nice. Thanks again AC. C. Green

Received 53 Musket and my “hand select” 54 Snider yesterday. The musket generally for the age was pretty nice, and complete. Worm holes in the stock, original butt plate missing, AC supplied a new one fabricated in India. Plate does not fit correct, will need some work. AC also provided some screws, clips, Rust and pits on the barrel where meets wood on the forearm areas. This did not surprise me. Heavy greased, with soot, used denatured alcohol and a toothbrush, started to clean wood nice. I’m very happy with this one. Also see my review of the 54 Snider. With this I ordered a hand select 1841 Brunswick. C.Green

Another great buy from Atlanta Cutlery! This is the second "Untouched gun" I've purchased and I'm again well pleased. True, it is a "diamond in the rough" but, time and patience will bring it back from the forgotten shadows of time. Anyone who complains of the "condition" of their "Untouched gun" seriously needs to read the book "Treasure, is where you find it...", and relish the fact that you have a true piece of history in your hands. Yes, if you like you, can buy a new firing replica from Dixie Gun Works and pay a premium, or search Gun Broker.com for an antique and again pay through the nose. Both (don't get me wrong are very good) but, Atlanta Cutlery allows you to own true history at a fraction of the cost. And to boot it's a hell of a lot of fun uncovering the DIAMOND!

They said it was a BFPU, and it certainly is. The wood is so dry it's bleached, and the wormholes are pretty bad. The butt no longer will accept a butt-plate, so I'll have to cut it off, and add a splice to the butt, so it will take a plate (which AC sent with the rifle). Rust is ubiquitous, but light. They sent exactly what they described, so no complaints.
