P-1856/1864 Gurkha Snider Short Rifle

This Gurkha P-1856/1864 Snider Short Rifle is .577 caliber and fitted with an original 26-1/2" barrel, secured by two steel barrel bands. It features the correct pattern short ladder back sight, complete with brass furniture.  It is 45" overall. The standard Snider Infantry Rifle had a 36-1/2" barrel secured by three steel bands and was 55" overall. These scarce short rifles were issued exclusively to Pioneer Troops and Artillery Units.
