Derived from the Teutonic Order in the 1200s, the Iron Cross was used throughout the first half of the last century to award acts of bravery or important contributions in battle. This was the standard award issued in several classes that identified you as a survivor and warrior in difficult circumstances and was well respected in the ranks.
This reproduction German Iron Cross Award comes with two style ribbons - the standard ribbon (shown to right in main photo) and the high ceremonial ribbon normally issued with the Merit Crosses but sometimes issued to civilians with the Iron Cross when they made significant contributions above the call of duty.
