Hotel Desk Bell

Soak in the ornate but rugged design of this old-fashioned desk bell and it’s not hard to imagine some trail worn stagecoach traveler heaving a sigh of relief when the hotel clerk called the bellhop to the desk to carry their heavy luggage to the sanctuary of the room. After a hard day of travel on cobblestones, muddy rutted dirt trails or no trails at all, a fancy implement like this was a symbol of civility and another hard day conquered. Interestingly, the button is spring loaded. When you slap it, the clapper swings up to strike the dome. Iron base with antiqued solid brass bell. Weighs a solid 12 oz. (3/4 of a pound),  so it makes a nice paperweight as well.
