OVERVIEW

Sold Out
Found in Nepal these are original 2 groove smooth bore Officer's Muskets that have the outward appearance of being P-1837 Brunswick Rifles. These were introduced for use by Junior Officers (NCOs) who led Companies of Smoothbore Musketeers armed with either the smoothbore Flintlock 3rd Model Brown Bess or P-1842 Percussion smoothbore Musket.

Initially these officers were issued with Brunswicks, however, the poor quality of the black powder of the period created so much fouling in the rifled barrels that the Officer's rate of fire suffered drastically. The result was that the attending Company of Musketeers reduced their rate of fire to match the slow pace of the Officer's rifled weapon.

To solve this problem in 1841 NCOs were issued Smoothbore Brunswicks that allowed the Officer the status & prestige of carrying what appeared to be a rifled weapon but that was able to match the rate of fire of other smoothbore muskets.

These Gurkha made examples were found in Military Storage in their homeland of Nepal. These particular Martini Infantry Rifles were used by the Gurkha detachments mostly in the Indian Sub Continent and are offered in half rifles or parts guns. Each rifle is offered totally as found, incomplete, broken, un-cleaned and un-refurbished. Totally covered and caked with dried on grease, dirt and rust, they can be used for parts, rebuilt or displayed as found. No guarantees as to what use or damage may be found after more than 100 years of neglect and storage.

Each gun will feature:
The barrel and action (which may be incomplete.)  There is no guarantee for any other parts.

Condition: usually show rust & pitting and be covered in dirt as originally stored.  All sales are final, so please do not order this if you are not prepared to receive an incomplete, broken parts gun with various missing parts.

Note: These guns were manufactured before 1898 and are therefore legally considered antiques. It is totally legal to own these without a U.S. Federal Firearms License (FFL) and they can be shipped to most countries around the world.

I'm very satisfied with it! All I need to get my Brunswick complete and in good condition. It took a while before it arrived here in Europe, but the exceptional service makes  up for it. I highly recommend not only the gun but also AC!
