OVERVIEW

Sold Out!
Over 150 years old, these are original, military issue P-1885 / 1866 Snider Artillery short rifles.  This Gurkha P-1882 / 1864 Snider Artillery Short Rifle is .577 caliber and fitted with an original 26-1/2" barrel, secured by two steel barrel bands.  Correct short pattern, ladder back sight with the brass furniture.  Overall length is 45".  These scarce short rifles were issued exclusively to the Pioneer Troops and Artillery Units.

Each comes from Authentic Government Storage Depots in Nepal where they have been stored since they were made obsolete and withdrawn from Service during the reign of Queen Victoria. These have not been touched since. So rather than attempt the time consuming cleaning and restoration of 150+ years storage, we are offering these as is for the historical collector and enthusiast to enjoy in their “just discovered" condition.

All show extensive use but each appears, by and large, to be complete. They may, or may not function, once the thick layer of congealed dirt, grime, grease and rust are removed, and may suffer from cracks and breaks which is to be expected after more than a century of neglect. Again only offered in AS IS condition; complete with caked on debris from battle and storage. There are NO Guarantees other than that each gun is completely genuine and very old. These relics should be likened to an archaeological dig, so no unreasonable demands or gripes please. Now offered at a bargain price for the enthusiast to enjoy as is or to spend the time and TLC to carefully restore; each weapon is REAL, ANTIQUE and is offered AS FOUND. Picture is a typical example, each weapon will vary of course.

While supplies last...get a copy of the hard cover book Treasure is Where You Find It on all orders with $250 or more of merchandise from the Antique Militaria category.  This free gift will be included with your order at the time of shipment.

Each gun will feature:
The action, lever, trigger, stock (which may show signs of wear like cracks, old repairs, wood rot, etc), barrel, 2 steel barrel bands, cleaning rod and butt plate.

Some guns may have additional pieces (sorry no choice) like minor parts & screws.

Condition:
Usually show rust & pitting and be covered in dirt as originally stored.  Otherwise they may not operate because of seizing or could be otherwise incomplete.  Plus there may be additional cracks, missing chunks, old repairs.

Note: These guns were manufactured before 1898 and are therefore legally considered antiques. It is totally legal to own these without a U.S. Federal Firearms License (FFL) and they can be shipped to most countries around the world.

A lot better than I was expecting! Complete with worm holes in the stock, the stock actually looks pretty cool with checkering and some nice looking pattern in the wood as well. Took a lot to get the action loosened up, but it got loose and functions well. Don't know any tricks for getting action ungunked faster, but be careful and patient and you probably won't break anything when you get things moving. The extractor is the biggest challange, and I was really worried that I was going to break something when I used a rubber mallet to free it up. Nothing broke though! Good luck, if they still have any left!
