Allan Pinkerton opened his first detective agency office in the 1850s, working with Law Enforcement nationwide to help arrest criminals. By 1855 he was specializing in protecting railroad shipments for several mid-western railways. in 1870, he and his agents became legendary during their relentless pursuit of Jesse James, the Younger Gang, the Dalton Brothers, and Butch Cassidy’s Wild Bunch.
