Although not as famous as the Confederate "D" guard Bowie, which often almost reached short sword proportions, the Bowie knife was in use on both sides of the war.

 

We have chosen to call this a "Union" Bowie, as this is one of the types of patterns produced in the north by cutlery companies of the era. The knife is a size useful for camp life in the field and also justified as a good backup weapon. The high-carbon steel blade is well-tempered. The guard and pommel are  solid brass, and the grip is polished hardwood that narrows in the center, providing a firm grip. Leather scabbard included. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts.
