OVERVIEW
Introduced in 1915 by the Imperial German Army for use with GEW 98 Rifle, it also fits K98 and most 98 Mauser clones, including Yugo Mausers. Used by the Reichswehr between the Wars and by many German police departments as rifles were standard police issue, and remained in limited service through WWII.
Our superb S 98/05 “Butcher Blade” bayonet reproduction is made from deeply blued high carbon steel with oil-finished wood grips and a blued steel scabbard. Includes frog. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts and comes factory sharp.

Looks good but very poor fit
It looks good but it will take quite a bit of work for it to mount on my Gew98 .

Just no.
Had to create a profile just to review this sorry thing. Not even worth a fraction of what I paid. Relatively brand new Yugo M48A. Oh, I was able to finally get the bayonet to mount. It was a tough fit, but eventually it locked into place. But now it won't come off. Yes, I'm well aware of the release button. I've tried heating and oiling and muscling it with a rubber mallet. At this point I'll likely have to completely destroy the bayonet itself if I don't want to damage my rifle. Never buying from here again. It deserves one star though I guess since it seems like an otherwise nice blade.

Have yet to sharpen the one I bought, but I can say that the mounting channel in the handle required some fitting with a metal file to get it to seat properly on my original G98. Attachment channel was just a hair too small when it arrived and would not fit on the rifle at first, but I got it to work by just shaving a little bit out. Other than that it seems like a decent quality reproduction. As I said, I still have yet to try sharpening it though, may update here if I have any issues with that.

I have purchased 3 of these quality bayonets. They fit my K98 Russian Capture, and my Yugo straight out of the box. I ordered the last one for my best friend, and he said it fits his K98 RC fine. These bayonets are large, fearsome, and have a visible shock value when attached to a Mauser. At the present deal price, they are a steal. Get one while they last.

Nine years ago I purchased two M1917 bayonets. I gave one to my brother and kept the other one. Mine was a disappointment. It did not fit without quite a bit of work. This time I was pleased with the 98 bayonet. At first it was a bit tight, but with oiling and cleaning it fit well and required no altering. It is well made and finished.
