Sold out!The P-51D Mustang was the only Allied fighter with the range to escort bombers all the way to Berlin, plus it was, arguably, the best fighter plane of WWII. The Mustang, as the British first named it, got off to a slow start. However, once mated with the famous Rolls Royce Merlin engine it became a war winner. Serving with US forces through the Korean War; remaining in serve with some air forces until the 1980’s. With a top speed of well over 400 mph and typically armed with 6 - 50 caliber Browning machine guns it was a tough bird to battle. Our highly detailed die-cast metal model comes pre-assembled with a propeller that spins, landing gear that retracts and drop tanks for that long trip to Berlin and bank. Also comes with a pedestal for displaying it as if it in flight.
