OVERVIEW

SOLD OUT
Best guess at an auction we saw recently placed this around the early 1800’s and pre-Civil War. The unusual shape intrigued us. The name on it read George Bryson, Birmingham which makes this English in origin. Add to that the odd combination of brass washers / pins through the wood scales, brass accent scales affixed to the wood and upswept, compact bowie blade and you’ve got a real curiosity. Highly functional and strong with full profile tang, this unique piece of history was probably a custom job for a frontiersman or explorer. Big enough to do it all. Includes a brown leather belt sheath, just like the original. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts. Cannot use Paypal as payment option.

Holy Cow this is a BIG knife.  I opened it up and my eyes bugged out I'm ecstatic.  The only reason you couldn't cut down a Redwood with this thing is because your arm would give out .  Your wrist bones would disconnect themselves and your hand would be like a vinyl glove of marbles.  Seriously I have ordered close to 350 dollars worth of knives in the past month and while the others are fantastic this knife is a true thing of beauty and usefulness.

Just received mine today.  I have not had a chance to use it yet but the fit and finish are more than I expected for this price of knife.  The blade was quite sharp out of the box.   I think this knife looks  more like a Hudson Bay Camp Knife than a Bowie.  The Hudson Bay Camp knives were from the early 1800's and made in England by different companies.

The handle needed some work.A sanding block & a belt sander,a little tong oil. I will have it done in a afternoon. Thank you for a great camp knife!

This English Bowie is a tank. I tested it right out the box on thick branches and a gourd. The wood scale finish is comfortable when making feather sticks. I'd like to see more Fixed Blades from Windlass.

I purchased this knife and was pleased with it. It is well made, but, I have found that knives made by Windlass Steel are much better than knives from other makers.  Since I am interested in the American frontier, this works well with my collection.  In the future I will make a fully beaded knife sheath for this knife. My work has won many awards at the State and National level, so when I plan a project I am looking for the best knife to go into a knife sheath.

Much more massive than I thought it would be.  Nice wood to metal finish.  I am pleased.

Ready for the wild wildness?  Then get this terrifically tough and vintage Bowie.  This is a true frontiersman's knife!  Like a huge butcher knife (think buffalo hunter) but with a heft and blade in the true Bowie style!  I love this rugged primitive tool!!
