One of the three regalia of Japan, only Emperors are allowed to see the mythical Kusanagi sword. An artist who attended a royal ceremony drew what he saw and we’ve used that as our inspiration to recreate this stunning sword. Representing valor, the Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi or Grass-Cutting Sword, was carried by the famed warrior Yamato Takeru. Tricked while hunting, he had fiery arrows loosed around him by a treacherous warlord to ignite the grass so he would burn to death. He used the sword to cut back the grass to remove fuel from the fire, in doing so, he discovered that the sword enabled him to control the wind. He used the winds to sweep the blaze toward his enemies. In triumph, he renamed the sword to commemorate his narrow victory.
This battle ready sword is made of high carbon steel and brass with an antique finish. Includes presentation box and can be sharpened for an additional fee.
