OVERVIEW
The Scottish dirk has been called the “heart of the Highlander”. It was the traditional wear of 18th century Scottish clansmen and so prominent to the culture that binding oaths were sworn upon it.
This unique sword walking stick utilizes one of the most beautiful grips of the Scottish dirks of history and features a simulated Topaz gemstone inset into the pommel. The hand carved hardwood handle displays the interwoven pattern and ornamental nickel silver tacks of historical Scottish dirks. A simple, counterclockwise twist of the grip unlocks the blade and allows quick deployment.
The German silver pommel and ferrule are encircled with thistles. The thistle has served as a symbol of Scotland since the reign of King Alexander III, when legend says an unfortunate member of an invading Viking party stepped on one and let out a loud yelp, alerting the Scottish army encampment and spoiling the raid.
The high carbon steel blade is crisply etched with a thistle motif and one side contains a space for personal engraving. The cane is 37-1/2" long overall when in walking mode. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts.
