OVERVIEW
Ferocious like its namesake animal, the Tiger Katana from Hanwei has been brought back into production by Paul Chen / Hanwei with the same folded steel as the original.
Previously released in the early 2000's, the Tiger Katana is a classic and it’s easy to see why.
The forged and folded K120C powder steel blade has a bo-hi (groove) on both sides. The traditional tsuka (handle) is same (rayskin) with a Japanese cotton tsuka-ito (wrap). The blackened iron tsuba depicts a "stalking tiger" in inlaid brass that stands out strikingly. The Habaki is one-piece brass construction. The Fuchi, Kashira, Kojiri, Koiguchi, and Kurigata are all made from blackened iron, selectively detailed in gold. The saya (scabbard) is black lacquer decorated with brass bamboo leaves and a cotton sageo.
