Using an original issue, we have replicated every detail of this USAF WWII Crash / Survival Axe. The full profile tang and axe face are made from one piece of high carbon steel that is over 1/4" thick. Designed to be durable enough to hack through the fuselage and even be used as a survival or self defense tool if needed, one was issued to each pilot. The textured rubber handle has the ID number 42D8331 like the original. The rubber grip covers nearly the whole length of the shaft to insulate against possible shock from hitting electrical features in the plane. Includes leather sheath. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts.

Not a good cutter and not very throwable.

Worth the Wait
It's obvious a product is hot when you must wait over two months to receive it! This classic axe is well worth the wait. Once I had a chance to feel the robust design and make of this beauty I was proud to realize our nation provided the best tools available for our WWII fliers to egress a crippled aircraft when necessary. Mine will never be put to such a test, yet I intend to put it through its paces on the homestead. By the way 'AC' had the VERY best price available. I must say it is a little heavier than expected, so eat your Wheaties.

We are sorry for the time that it took to receive the item.  It is a very popular item and on occasion, our inventory is unable to keep up with the demand.  Our goal is to bring our customers the best products in a timely manner.

Thank you the Atlanta Cutlery Family

Cover / case not very exciting.
The tool is what I expected [ having used the original item ].
Rather dull cutting edge but, that is to be expected.

Very interesting historical replica; strong and well-built.  My axe came with some rust at 3 places that I needed to buff off and relubricate to prevent rerusting.
