I'm doing a very basic late war Japanese impression and I didn't wanna break the bank on an Arisaka Cartridge Belt repro.
This example is another Indian-made repro of your typicaly Japanese Type 99 Belt set, but it's one of the slightly better-looking ones. The color matches up to photos on the site, leather is stiff, but decent quality and could be easily softened with use or some sort of leather care product. The brass studs on the pouches work well, but unfortunately, one stud is a little loose and can't be tightened down, so it is difficult to slip the tab over it, but otherwise, they work perfectly out of the box.
The bayonet frog I'm slightly concerned over because it seems like the sheath retainer strap is too short and the opening not big enough, but I don't yet have the Type 30 Bayonet repro to test-fit, so I might make an update when that happens. Same deal with the oiler straps on the rear reserve pouch - seems really small, but I've yet to test any fitting.
My only other gripe is the buckle - it looks like something they pulled off a generic cowboy belt, as the Japanese buckles were typically rounded at the corners and were made out of thick, bent wire, not solid cast brass.
But even still, I can't complain too much foor the price - it's good for what I needed it to be and only desparate farbspotters will ride you about details like these. Best budget belt!
