This limited edition of our American Revolution Saber has an etched blade (on both sides) commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence (“Semiquincentennial”, if you like technical terminology), displaying the words “250 Years Of Liberty” and both the Betsy Ross flag (with 13 stars) and the current Stars and Stripes.
This type of 1700s infantry short saber was often referred to as a “hanger”, since it was worn hung from the soldier’s equipment belt, often next to his bayonet. This particular pattern was used as a close-quarters battle weapon by Prussian mercenaries who served as paid troops in America’s Continental Army. Includes a black leather scabbard with steel mounts.
