Style and Construction:
The broad clip point of the blade is extremely resistant to bending or breaking. This is largely due to the fact that the tip is actually thicker near the point. This, however, does not mean that the point is dull or blunt. On the contrary, the point is almost needle sharp and offers tremendous penetration. Plus, the blade-back is equipped with a slightly concave false edge that measures approximately three and a half inches long. Every Trail Master's® edge has been honed by hand, then given a high-speed buff until it is truly razor sharp and capable of easily shaving the hair off one's arm. This knife, made of SK-5 High Carbon Steel, is so sharp it will cut at the slightest touch. The Trail Master® balances approximately 3/4" in front of the guard for a slightly blade-heavy feel that is ideal for delivering heavy chopping and slashing strokes. The Trail Master's® Kraton® handle is 5" long and deeply checkered for a non-slip, shock-absorbing grip. What's more, its contoured cross-section helps prevent the knife from shifting or turning in the hand when striking full power blows. The double guard is very study and rigidly fixed into place. It is long enough to keep fingers off the blade, yet short enough to avoid being tangled in clothing or equipment when the Trail Master® is drawn. Includes Secure-Ex® Sheath. Also available with VG-1 San Mai III® Steel.

TrailMaster still the best
She isnt the fanciest gal at the dance but she can be counted on to perform well in a pinch or otherwise in day to day use. Ive had four of these and still own my first. This is a large knife at 9.5 inch blade but it can be used for smaller tasks as well as larger. I mate mine with a smaller blade and made a sheath to carry both, piggyback for the smaller.
Ive used mine for chopping wood, butchering meat and even for kitchen tasks. The TM does them all as required. Could be used for "fighting" but Ive never had that need...
This knife is beyond belief compared to most other mass-market knives. The only thing I would ask for is a couple inches of serrations for cutting boxes and rope etc. Cold Steel could sell a partially serrated blade at no great additional manufacturing cost.
All told, excellent knife. When it came out it changed my performance expectations of what a good blade can do, and displaced several other knives I'd used for years...
